This month’s Backyard Barter fair was great! The event was held in SoDo and close to our house so my daughter came with me; each month a different area of the city is chosen. People take an hour to set up and see what is available to trade then an hour to do the exchanges. The ginger beer we brought was our most popular item.
Traders brought gooey chocolate gluten free cupcakes, dried bay leaves, crunchy tarragon infused pickles, herb starts and many other tempting things to barter.
We went home and made a dinner of pizza crusts topped with fresh goat cheese and fizzy lemonade to wash it all down. Dessert was, of course, the cupcakes. Tonight I’m opening up a jar of seaweed salsa to have with quesadillas. I’ve always wanted to try pickling seaweed so am really curious to see what it tastes like.
I'd love to hear from you!
