Yesterday, a determined group of local community members in the Rainier Beach neighborhood moved one step closer to their goal of getting an urban farm in their neighborhood when the Board of Park Commissioners voted unanimously to recommend the establishment of an Urban Farm and Wetlands Restoration site at Atlantic City Nursery.
Parks and Recreation Superintendent Christopher Williams will make the final decision, then Parks will issue a Request For Proposal for organizations to operate the farm and restore the wetlands.
To learn more about the next steps, come to the Friends of Atlantic City Nursery community meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, September 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rainier Beach Library.
