As reported on the City Farmer blog yesterday, City of Seattle is announcing 2010 as the year of urban agriculture and to kick off the campaign to “promote community agriculture efforts and increase access to locally grown food,” they’ve launched a new website. We’ll be posting an update later today once the press release is issued.
In my quick perusal, it looks like they’ve put together a great list of links to information about the permits and regulations that apply to gardening in the city. You might also notice a few links to Urban Farm Hub!
As all of the food system planning work in Seattle moves forward, this website will become a valuable tool for outreach and the gathering of feedback from the community. It will be interesting to see whether it gets used to announce funding opportunities and build partnerships with and between nonprofit and community organizations.
Let us know what you think of the new site by posting in the comments section below or by sending an email to info@urbanfarmhub.org.
